Trained at Rhode Island School of Design (BFA ’01) in Furniture Design, Brock has integrated his expertise in materials into a practice that engages with lighting and projection techniques across a wide variety of contexts, from art and music to architecture and event design and production.

As one of the lead artists in the regenerated Joshua Light Show, Monroe has collaborated on live concerts at The Barbican (London), Mutek Mexico, Transmediale/CTM Festival (Berlin), Przemiany Festival (Warsaw), Lincoln Center Out of Doors, Museum of Fine Arts Houston, Hayden Planetarium at the American Museum of Natural History, New World Symphony for Performa/Art Basel Miami Beach, and the opening of Southampton’s Parrish Museum, among others, with musicians ranging from Lou Reed and John Zorn to the Boston Symphony Orchestra to the band MGMT.

In the early 2000s, Brock was working in material resourcing for a major architecture firm, when he was invited to become a member of the Mighty Robot A/V squad, for which he created projections for hundreds of bands at a Brooklyn loft space.  The venue launched the careers of groups such as the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Liars, and Oneida. When the venue lost its lease, Brock continued to pursue his own projects, which eventually led to collaboration with Seth Kirby and the Joshua Light Show, in conjunction with founder Joshua White and a larger, intergenerational team.

During this time, Brock has continued to created work and produce projects in the fine art and corporate worlds alike. A residency at the New Museum of Contemporary Art and performances at the Portland Institute of Contemporary Art’s TBA Festival are supported by event design for such clients as Brooklyn Academy of Music, Condé Nast, Veuve Clicquot, Paddle8, Vans, Pitchfork, and others.
